Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Nudge – Breathe Free (“Nudge,” “we,” “us,” or “the app”) handles information when you use our iOS application. By using Nudge, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.

1. Data Encryption and On-Device Storage

Nudge is architected so that your personal quit journey data—such as quit date, smoking profile inputs, notification preferences, and journal entries you create in the app—remains on your device under Apple’s standard protections for app data. Data is stored using UserDefaults, AppStorage, and SwiftData (where applicable) within your app sandbox; it is not transmitted to servers operated by Nudge for storage or backup.

When you grant access to Apple Health (HealthKit), health metrics you authorize are read through Apple’s HealthKit APIs. Apple encrypts Health data at rest on device and syncs it across your devices according to your iCloud and Health settings. Nudge does not maintain its own cloud database of your HealthKit samples.

You are responsible for keeping your device passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, and Apple ID secure. Loss or compromise of your device may expose locally stored app data to anyone who can unlock the device, consistent with Apple’s platform security model.

2. Zero Third-Party Sharing

Nudge does not sell your personal information. We do not embed third-party advertising SDKs, do not use cross-app tracking pixels, and do not share your data with data brokers, marketing networks, or social platforms for profiling.

Analytics, if introduced in a future version, would be disclosed in an updated Policy and, where feasible, offered with opt-in consent. As of this version, the app is designed to function without behavioral advertising and without third-party trackers.

3. Microphone and Speech Data

Features that use the microphone or speech recognition (for example, speaking with the Sphere during cravings) process audio on device using Apple’s system frameworks where available. Voice data is not uploaded to Nudge servers because Nudge does not operate a backend that receives or stores your recordings for this purpose.

Apple’s speech APIs may be subject to Apple’s own terms and optional settings (such as improving Siri). You can review microphone and speech permissions in Settings ▸ Privacy & Security on your iPhone. You may withdraw microphone access at any time; certain features may become unavailable without it.

4. HealthKit Data Usage

If you authorize HealthKit access, Nudge may read categories you approve (for example, resting heart rate) solely to visualize recovery—for instance, to display trends or milestones that support your smoke-free journey. Nudge does not use HealthKit data for advertising and does not sell HealthKit data.

HealthKit access is read-only in typical configurations; Nudge does not write clinical diagnoses or treatment plans. Information shown in the app is informational and not a substitute for professional medical advice. Consult a qualified clinician for medical decisions.

You can revoke HealthKit permissions at any time in the Health app under Sharing ▸ Apps or in Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Health.

5. Notifications

Local notifications (including High Alert and optional support-style messages) are scheduled on device. They do not require Nudge to collect your content on a remote server to function. You can disable notifications in Settings ▸ Notifications or within in-app controls where provided.

6. Children’s Privacy

Nudge is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us so we can delete it where required by law.

7. International Users

If you use Nudge outside your home country, information processed on your device is subject to the laws of the jurisdiction where your device is located and Apple’s infrastructure. Because core data stays on-device, cross-border transfer by Nudge is inherently limited.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect product changes or legal requirements. The Effective date at the top will be revised when material changes occur. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance unless applicable law requires additional consent.
